Mary McHaney Obituary

Mary Frances Muller McHaney, 85, of Lufkin, TX, peacefully passed away on February 13th, 2026, surrounded by family at her home after an eight month battle with Pancreatic cancer.

Mary Frances was born in Nacogdoches, TX to Meadrill and Ora Muller on December 7, 1940. She attended Nacogdoches High School and then went on to Stephen F. Austin State University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She married Kenneth Walker McHaney from Kilgore, TX on June 11, 1960 and followed his journey in the United States Air Force to Cape Canaveral, FL where she taught elementary school at Cocoa Beach. After enjoying both Florida and New Foundland, Canada, she relocated with her husband back to Nacogdoches where she would reside until 2018. She selflessly supported the family grocery store business and raised two adopted children whom she loved unimaginably. She was a faithful member of Fredonia Hill Baptist church, a member of christian women’s clubs and various charitable organizations through which she loved supporting others. She loved her family and especially doted on grand and great grandchildren.

Mary Frances is preceded in death by parents Ora and Meadrill Muller, sister Beth Wood, husband Kenneth Walker McHaney and daughter Michelle.

Mary Frances is survived by son Michael McHaney and wife Amy of Lufkin, sister Janet Allen of Willis, TX, sister Kaye McHaney of Hudson, TX, grand children Miley McHaney of College Station, TX, Miller McHaney of Dallas, TX. Ashley Bryant of Lufkin, TX and great grandchild Zoey Sessions.
